Oregon Scrapbook Directions
You will be creating a "scrapbook" (webpage) about Oregon and some of the qualities that make Oregon unique. For each category, you will write a mini essay, answering the questions below. Don't forget to make your writing interesting, using descriptive words and literary devices! Have fun!
Oregon Scrapbook Categories
- State Symbols: Please write 3-4 sentences explaining each state symbol and why it was chosen to symbolize Oregon. Attach a picture for each symbol.
- State Insect
- State Rock
- State Flower
- State Bird
- State Animal
- State Fish
- Weather: Please write a paragraph explaining the average rainfall, the average high and low temperatures, and how the weather differs on the coast compared to the Willamette Valley, Central, and Eastern Oregon.
- Agriculture Report: Please chose one product that grows/lives best in Oregon. Explain why it grows/lives best in Oregon, tell about 4 intersting facts about the produce and how this produce benefits Oregon.
- Famous Product Report: Please choose one famous product that is produced in Oregon. Where in Oregon does it come from? How is the product made or grown? Why is this famous product important to Oregon? Alsoinclude at least four interesting facts about this product.
- Historical Site Report: Please explain where the historical site is located, how far is the sight from your house, why is this site important to Oregon, what you can do when you are at the historical site, and any other interesting facts.
- Sherwood Report: Please include the population of Sherwood, what major city it is near, fun things you can do in Sherwood, your favorite thing about Sherwood, and at least three interesting facts about your home town.
- City Report: Please include how far this city is from Sherwood, the population, what the city is best known for, fun activities to do in the city and at least three interesting facts about the city.
- Lewis and Clark Expedition Report: You will choose an individual from the Lewis and Clark Expedition to roleplay and educate our class. Research this person, recording any interesting facts you can find. You will write this essay with a hook, body, and conclusion from the perspective of your individual. Have fun! Try dressing in constume to present your speech, use props, and/or prepare a backdrop, etc. The final draft of your speech will be included on your webpage.
- Photo Gallery of Oregon: Click on "multimedia" on the Weebly editor and select "Photo Gallery" or "Flickr Photo Slideshow." Upload any pictures of you in Oregon, or other pictures in Oregon that you were unable to include elsewhere in your page. Have fun!
Webpage Directions
- Please use a "Title" element for the title as well as a "Paragraph with Picture" Element for each item in your scrapbook.
- After you have done your research, written a rough draft, edited your writing, and typed a final draft, you will copy and paste your writing into the element.
- Upload a picture that enhances your subject by clicking "upload."
- If there is a picture online that you would like to include, you must first save it to a file, or your desktop, and then upload it to your webpage.
